Creating a New Project
Every work in Writan starts as a project. A project is the top-level container that holds your entire story structure — from broad acts down to individual beats.
Steps
- From the dashboard, click New Project
- Enter a project title
- Your project is created with an empty node tree, ready for you to add structure
What Gets Created
When you create a project, Writan sets up:
- A project record linked to your account
- An empty node tree — the hierarchical structure where your story will live
- The three-panel workspace: Library (left), Document Tree (centre), Properties (right)
Next Steps
Once your project exists, you’ll typically want to:
- Add high-level ideas to capture your premise
- Create your story structure with acts, chapters, scenes, and beats
